INTENDED USE
Qualitative detection of Avian Influenza Virus H7 subtype antigen in secretion and cloacal swab samples from birds (poultry), for veterinary point-of-care use. It aids in the diagnosis and surveillance of H7 avian influenza, including highly pathogenic strains. Results must be interpreted together with clinical signs and confirmed by reference methods such as RT-PCR or virus isolation.
PRINCIPLE
The AIV H7 Ag Rapid Test is a lateral-flow immunochromatographic assay based on colloidal gold labeling. The test cassette contains a nitrocellulose membrane with a test (T) line pre-coated with capture antibody and a control (C) line. When the processed secretion/cloacal sample is added to the sample well, it migrates by capillary action. If the target AIV H7 antigen is present, it binds the gold-conjugated antibody and is captured at the T line, forming a visible colored band. The C line should always appear, confirming the assay ran correctly. Results are read visually by the naked eye within the stated time; no instrument is required.
SPECIMEN
The test uses fresh secretion or cloacal swab samples from birds. Collect swabs from the oropharynx/trachea or cloaca, place them in the provided assay buffer, and mix well. Use fresh samples promptly, or keep chilled (2–8 °C) if testing is delayed; avoid heavy contamination that may affect flow.
