INTENDED USE
The Veterinary Toxoplasma Antigen (TOXO Ag) Test Kit is a fluorescence immunoassay intended for the qualitative detection of Toxoplasma gondii antigen in feline and canine fecal specimens. It is designed to aid in the screening for toxoplasmosis and the detection of active shedding, particularly in cats as the definitive host. Results should be interpreted together with clinical signs and other diagnostic findings. For veterinary use only.
PRINCIPLE
The test uses a double-antibody sandwich fluorescence immunoassay adapted for fecal antigen detection. Anti-Toxoplasma capture antibodies are immobilized on the nitrocellulose membrane at the test line (T line). During incubation, Toxoplasma gondii antigen in the processed fecal extract binds to the immobilized antibody, and a second fluorescent-nanoparticle-conjugated anti-Toxoplasma antibody binds the captured antigen, forming a sandwich complex. A control line (C line) confirms adequate specimen processing and membrane flow. The fluorescence analyzer reads the T-line/C-line intensity ratio to report a qualitative antigen result.
