INTENDED USE
Qualitative detection of African Swine Fever Virus (ASFV) antigen in whole blood, serum, or plasma from pigs, for veterinary point-of-care use. It aids in the presumptive diagnosis of active ASFV infection in suspected cases. Results must be interpreted together with clinical signs and confirmed by reference methods such as PCR or virus isolation.
PRINCIPLE
The ASFV Ag Rapid Test is a lateral-flow immunochromatographic assay based on colloidal gold labeling. The test cassette contains a nitrocellulose membrane with a test (T) line pre-coated with capture antibody and a control (C) line. When the processed whole blood/serum/plasma is added to the sample well, it migrates by capillary action. If ASFV antigen (e.g., structural p72/p32 proteins) is present, it binds the gold-conjugated antibody and is captured at the T line, forming a visible colored band. The C line should always appear, confirming the assay ran correctly. Results are read visually by the naked eye within the stated time; no instrument is required.
SPECIMEN
Use fresh whole blood, serum, or plasma from pigs. Collect by venipuncture; for serum allow clotting and separate, or use anticoagulated blood/plasma and separate promptly. Mix well before application. Avoid hemolysis; test fresh or store refrigerated (2–8 °C) if delayed.
