INTENDED USE
Qualitative detection of antibodies against Brucella abortus in serum or plasma from cattle, for veterinary point-of-care use. It aids in screening for bovine brucellosis, a contagious bacterial disease causing late-term abortion and infertility. A positive result indicates exposure or immune response and must be interpreted together with clinical signs, herd history, and confirmatory tests such as CFT or ELISA.
PRINCIPLE
The B.Brucella Rapid Test is a lateral-flow immunochromatographic assay based on colloidal gold labeling. The test cassette contains a nitrocellulose membrane with a test (T) line pre-coated with capture antigen and a control (C) line. When the processed serum/plasma is added to the sample well, it migrates by capillary action. If Brucella-specific antibodies are present, they bind the gold-conjugated antigen and are captured at the T line, forming a visible colored band. The C line should always appear, confirming the assay ran correctly. Results are read visually by the naked eye within the stated time; no instrument is required.
SPECIMEN
Use fresh serum or plasma from cattle. Collect blood by venipuncture; allow clotting and separate serum, or use anticoagulated plasma and separate promptly. Mix well before application. Avoid hemolysis; test fresh or store refrigerated (2–8 °C) if delayed.
