INTENDED USE
Qualitative detection of antibodies against Mycobacterium bovis in whole blood, serum, or plasma collected from cattle, for veterinary point-of-care use. It indicates exposure to the bovine TB agent rather than confirming active infection, which requires tuberculin testing and culture. Results must be interpreted together with clinical signs and other diagnostics.
PRINCIPLE
The TB Ab Rapid Test is a lateral-flow immunochromatographic assay based on colloidal gold labeling. The test cassette contains a nitrocellulose membrane with a test (T) line pre-coated with capture antigen and a control (C) line. When the processed whole blood, serum, or plasma is added to the sample well, it migrates by capillary action. If the target anti-Mycobacterium bovis antibody is present, it binds the gold-conjugated antigen and is captured at the T line, forming a visible colored band. The C line should always appear, confirming the assay ran correctly. Results are read visually by the naked eye within the stated time; no instrument is required.
SPECIMEN
Use fresh whole blood, serum, or plasma collected from cattle. Avoid hemolysis of blood samples and separate serum or plasma promptly after collection; mix well before application. Do not use grossly contaminated or severely hemolyzed samples.
