INTENDED USE
For the qualitative detection of canine C-reactive protein (CRP) in whole blood, serum, or plasma from dogs, intended for veterinary point-of-care use. It aids in the detection and monitoring of systemic inflammation associated with infection, injury, or immune-mediated disease. Results must be interpreted together with clinical signs and other diagnostics; CRP is a non-specific marker.
PRINCIPLE
The C-CRP Rapid Test is a lateral-flow immunochromatographic assay based on colloidal gold labeling. The test cassette contains a nitrocellulose membrane with a test (T) line pre-coated with capture antibody and a control (C) line. When the processed whole blood, serum, or plasma is added to the sample well, it migrates by capillary action. If the target canine C-reactive protein is present, it binds the gold-conjugated antibody and is captured at the T line, forming a visible colored band. The C line should always appear, confirming the assay ran correctly. Results are read visually by the naked eye within the stated time; no instrument is required.
SPECIMEN
Use whole blood, serum, or plasma collected by venipuncture. For serum or plasma, centrifuge promptly and avoid hemolysis; for whole blood use fresh, unhemolyzed samples. Mix well before applying to the test.
