INTENDED USE
For the qualitative detection of canine coronavirus (CCoV) antigen in feces collected from dogs, intended for veterinary point-of-care use. It aids in the diagnosis of canine coronavirus enteritis, particularly in puppies with diarrhea. Results must be interpreted together with clinical signs and other diagnostic methods such as PCR.
PRINCIPLE
The CCV Ag Rapid Test is a lateral-flow immunochromatographic assay based on colloidal gold labeling. The test cassette contains a nitrocellulose membrane with a test (T) line pre-coated with capture antibody and a control (C) line. When the processed feces is added to the sample well, it migrates by capillary action. If the target Canine coronavirus antigen is present, it binds the gold-conjugated antibody and is captured at the T line, forming a visible colored band. The C line should always appear, confirming the assay ran correctly. Results are read visually by the naked eye within the stated time; no instrument is required.
SPECIMEN
Use fresh fecal material collected from the rectum with the provided swab or from a fresh stool. Mix the swab thoroughly in the assay buffer to release antigen, allow large particles to settle, and use the supernatant. Use fresh samples and avoid contamination.
