Canine toxoplasma virus antibody (TOXO Ab) Rapid Test Kit
Catalog No.:
Description
This test qualitatively detects antibodies against Toxoplasma gondii in whole blood, serum, or plasma from dogs. Infection is common, but clinical disease is rare and usually seen in young or immunocompromised animals. A positive result indicates exposure; the test yields a visual result in minutes at the point of care.

INTENDED USE
Qualitative detection of antibodies against Toxoplasma gondii in whole blood, serum, or plasma collected from dogs, for veterinary point-of-care use. It indicates prior exposure to this protozoan parasite rather than active infection. Results must be interpreted together with clinical signs and other diagnostics, as antibody presence alone does not confirm clinical toxoplasmosis.
PRINCIPLE
The TOXO Ab Rapid Test is a lateral-flow immunochromatographic assay based on colloidal gold labeling. The test cassette contains a nitrocellulose membrane with a test (T) line pre-coated with Toxoplasma gondii antigen and a control (C) line. When the processed whole blood, serum, or plasma sample is added to the sample well, it migrates by capillary action. If antibodies against Toxoplasma gondii are present, they bind the gold-conjugated anti-antibody and are captured at the T line, forming a visible colored band. The C line should always appear, confirming the assay ran correctly. Results are read visually by the naked eye within the stated time; no instrument is required.
SPECIMEN
Use whole blood, serum, or plasma collected from the dog. For serum, allow clotting and separate promptly; for plasma, use an appropriate anticoagulant. Avoid hemolysis and store samples cool; test fresh or refrigerate if analysis is delayed.
