Equine Infectious Anemia Antibody (EIA Ab) Rapid Test Kit
Catalog No.:
Description
This test qualitatively detects antibodies against equine infectious anemia virus (EIAV) in whole blood, serum, or plasma from equids. EIA is a retroviral, reportable disease; infected animals become lifelong carriers. A positive result indicates infection; the test yields a visual result in minutes at the point of care.

INTENDED USE
Qualitative detection of antibodies against equine infectious anemia virus (EIAV) in whole blood, serum, or plasma collected from equids, for veterinary point-of-care use. It aids in the diagnosis and regulatory screening of equine infectious anemia, a reportable retroviral disease. A positive result indicates infection and lifelong carrier status; results must be confirmed and interpreted per local regulatory requirements.
PRINCIPLE
The EIA Ab Rapid Test is a lateral-flow immunochromatographic assay based on colloidal gold labeling. The test cassette contains a nitrocellulose membrane with a test (T) line pre-coated with EIAV antigen and a control (C) line. When the processed whole blood, serum, or plasma sample is added to the sample well, it migrates by capillary action. If antibodies against equine infectious anemia virus are present, they bind the gold-conjugated anti-antibody and are captured at the T line, forming a visible colored band. The C line should always appear, confirming the assay ran correctly. Results are read visually by the naked eye within the stated time; no instrument is required.
SPECIMEN
Use whole blood, serum, or plasma collected from the equid. For serum, allow clotting and separate promptly; for plasma, use an appropriate anticoagulant. Avoid hemolysis and store samples cool; test fresh or refrigerate if analysis is delayed.
