Feline infectious peritonitis virus antibody (FIP Ab) Rapid Test Kit
Catalog No.:
Description
This test qualitatively detects antibodies to feline coronavirus (FCoV), associated with feline infectious peritonitis, in whole blood, serum, plasma, or ascites from cats. A positive result indicates exposure rather than definitive FIP. It gives a visual result by the naked eye within minutes at the point of care.

INTENDED USE
Qualitative detection of antibodies to feline coronavirus (FCoV) in whole blood, serum, plasma, or ascitic fluid from cats, for veterinary point-of-care use. Because many cats are FCoV-exposed without developing FIP, a positive result indicates exposure rather than active disease. Results must be interpreted together with clinical signs and other diagnostics.
PRINCIPLE
The FIP Ab Rapid Test is a lateral-flow immunochromatographic assay based on colloidal gold labeling. The test cassette contains a nitrocellulose membrane with a test (T) line pre-coated with FCoV antigen and a control (C) line. When the processed whole blood, serum, plasma, or ascites is added to the sample well, it migrates by capillary action. If anti-FCoV antibodies are present, they bind the gold-conjugated antigen and are captured at the T line, forming a visible colored band. The C line should always appear, confirming the assay ran correctly. Results are read visually by the naked eye within the stated time; no instrument is required.
SPECIMEN
The test uses whole blood, serum, plasma, or ascitic fluid collected from the cat. Use fresh, non-hemolyzed blood-derived samples and handle all specimens aseptically. Mix well before application; store serum, plasma, or ascites appropriately if not tested immediately.
