Foot-and-mouth disease virus type I antibody (FMDV-I Ab) Rapid Test Kit
Catalog No.:
Description
The FMDV-I Ab Rapid Test qualitatively detects antibodies against foot-and-mouth disease virus serotype I in whole blood, serum, or plasma collected from pigs. It gives a visual result at the point of care within minutes, supporting rapid screening of exposure or vaccination status in swine herds.

INTENDED USE
Qualitative detection of antibodies to foot-and-mouth disease virus serotype I (FMDV-I) in whole blood, serum, or plasma collected from pigs, for veterinary point-of-care use. It aids in herd screening for FMDV exposure or vaccine response. A positive result indicates prior infection or vaccination rather than active disease; results must be interpreted together with clinical signs, vaccination history, and other diagnostics such as non-structural protein testing.
PRINCIPLE
The FMDV-I Ab Rapid Test is a lateral-flow immunochromatographic assay based on colloidal gold labeling. The test cassette contains a nitrocellulose membrane with a test (T) line pre-coated with capture antigen and a control (C) line. When the processed whole blood, serum, or plasma is added to the sample well, it migrates by capillary action. If anti-FMDV-I antibodies are present, they bind the gold-conjugated antigen and are captured at the T line, forming a visible colored band. The C line should always appear, confirming the assay ran correctly. Results are read visually by the naked eye within the stated time; no instrument is required.
SPECIMEN
Use whole blood, serum, or plasma collected from pigs. For serum, allow clotting and centrifuge; for plasma, use anticoagulated blood (e.g., EDTA, heparin, or citrate). Fresh samples are preferred; avoid hemolysis and lipemia. If not tested immediately, store serum/plasma at 2–8 °C for a short period or freeze; mix well before use.
