INTENDED USE

Qualitative detection of feline parvovirus (FPV) antigen in feces collected from cats, for veterinary point-of-care use. It aids in the diagnosis of feline panleukopenia (feline parvoviral enteritis) when used with clinical signs and hematology. A positive result indicates active viral shedding; however, recent modified-live vaccination may yield transient positives, and results must be interpreted together with clinical findings and, if needed, PCR confirmation.

PRINCIPLE

The FPV Ag Rapid Test is a lateral-flow immunochromatographic assay based on colloidal gold labeling. The test cassette contains a nitrocellulose membrane with a test (T) line pre-coated with capture antibody against FPV and a control (C) line. When the processed fecal extract is added to the sample well, it migrates by capillary action. If FPV antigen is present, it binds the gold-conjugated antibody and is captured at the T line, forming a visible colored band. The C line should always appear, confirming the assay ran correctly. Results are read visually by the naked eye within the stated time; no instrument is required.

SPECIMEN

Collect a fresh fecal sample from the cat. Prepare an extract by mixing a small amount of feces with the provided diluent according to the kit procedure. Use fresh samples and avoid contamination; test promptly. If delay is unavoidable, store the fecal sample refrigerated for a short period and mix well before preparing the extract.
