Porcine circovirus type 2 antibody (PCV-2 Ab) Rapid Test Kit
Catalog No.:
Description
This test qualitatively detects antibodies to porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV-2) in serum, plasma, or whole blood from pigs. It helps assess prior exposure to or vaccination against PCV-2, linked to PCVAD. A visible result is read by the naked eye within minutes at the point of care.

INTENDED USE
Qualitative detection of antibodies to porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV-2) in serum, plasma, or whole blood collected from pigs, for veterinary point-of-care use. It aids in identifying animals previously exposed to or vaccinated against PCV-2, the cause of porcine circovirus-associated disease (PCVAD). Detection of antibody indicates prior exposure or immune status rather than active infection, and results must be interpreted together with clinical signs and other diagnostics.
PRINCIPLE
The PCV-2 Ab Rapid Test is a lateral-flow immunochromatographic assay based on colloidal gold labeling. The test cassette contains a nitrocellulose membrane with a test (T) line pre-coated with PCV-2 antigen and a control (C) line. When the processed serum, plasma, or whole blood is added to the sample well, it migrates by capillary action. If anti-PCV-2 antibodies are present, they bind the gold-conjugated anti-porcine IgG and are captured at the T line, forming a visible colored band. The C line should always appear, confirming the assay ran correctly. Results are read visually by the naked eye within the stated time; no instrument is required.
SPECIMEN
The test uses serum, plasma, or whole blood collected from pigs. Collect blood by venipuncture into an appropriate tube and separate serum or plasma if needed, avoiding hemolysis. Use fresh samples and mix whole blood gently before application; keep samples cool if testing is delayed.
