Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus antibody IgA (PED IgA) Rapid Test Kit
Catalog No.:
Description
This test qualitatively detects porcine epidemic diarrhea virus IgA antibody (anti-PEDV IgA) in serum or plasma from pigs. It helps assess mucosal immunity against PEDV, a coronavirus causing severe diarrhea. A visible result is read by the naked eye within minutes at the point of care.

INTENDED USE
Qualitative detection of IgA-class antibodies to porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) in serum or plasma collected from pigs, for veterinary point-of-care use. It aids in assessing mucosal/colostral immune status against PEDV, the coronavirus responsible for porcine epidemic diarrhea. Detection of IgA indicates prior exposure or vaccination and correlates with mucosal protection rather than active infection; results must be interpreted together with clinical signs and other diagnostics.
PRINCIPLE
The PED IgA Rapid Test is a lateral-flow immunochromatographic assay based on colloidal gold labeling. The test cassette contains a nitrocellulose membrane with a test (T) line pre-coated with PEDV antigen and a control (C) line. When the processed serum or plasma is added to the sample well, it migrates by capillary action. If anti-PEDV IgA antibodies are present, they bind the gold-conjugated anti-porcine IgA and are captured at the T line, forming a visible colored band. The C line should always appear, confirming the assay ran correctly. Results are read visually by the naked eye within the stated time; no instrument is required.
SPECIMEN
The test uses serum or plasma collected from pigs. Collect blood by venipuncture into an appropriate tube and separate serum or plasma, avoiding hemolysis. Use fresh samples; keep them cool if testing is not performed immediately.
