Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Antigen (PEDV Ag) Rapid Test Kit

Catalog No.:RPEDVAGW

Description

This test qualitatively detects porcine epidemic diarrhea virus antigen (PEDV Ag) in serum, plasma, or whole blood from pigs. It helps screen for PEDV, the coronavirus causing severe diarrhea in swine. A visible result is read by the naked eye within minutes at the point of care.

INTENDED USE

Qualitative detection of porcine epidemic diarrhea virus antigen (PEDV Ag) in serum, plasma, or whole blood collected from pigs, for veterinary point-of-care use. It aids in the rapid screening of PEDV, the coronavirus that causes porcine epidemic diarrhea with high mortality in suckling piglets. Results must be interpreted together with clinical signs and confirmatory testing such as PCR.

PRINCIPLE

The PEDV Ag Rapid Test is a lateral-flow immunochromatographic assay based on colloidal gold labeling. The test cassette contains a nitrocellulose membrane with a test (T) line pre-coated with anti-PEDV capture antibody and a control (C) line. When the processed serum, plasma, or whole blood is added to the sample well, it migrates by capillary action. If PEDV antigen is present, it binds the gold-conjugated antibody and is captured at the T line, forming a visible colored band. The C line should always appear, confirming the assay ran correctly. Results are read visually by the naked eye within the stated time; no instrument is required.

SPECIMEN

The test uses serum, plasma, or whole blood collected from pigs. Collect blood by venipuncture into an appropriate tube and separate serum or plasma if needed, avoiding hemolysis. Use fresh samples and mix whole blood gently before application; keep samples cool if testing is delayed.
