Porcine pseudorabies virus gE antibody (PRV gE Ab) Rapid Test Kit

Catalog No.:RPRVGES

Description

The PRV gE Ab Rapid Test qualitatively detects antibodies to the gE glycoprotein of pseudorabies virus in porcine serum or plasma. It helps differentiate field-virus-infected swine from those given gE-deleted vaccines, providing a visual point-of-care result within minutes.

INTENDED USE

Qualitative detection of antibodies against the gE glycoprotein of pseudorabies virus (PRV / Aujeszky’s disease) in serum or plasma collected from swine, for veterinary point-of-care use. It aids in herd surveillance and eradication programmes by supporting differentiation of naturally infected animals from those vaccinated with gE-deleted marker vaccines (DIVA). Results must be interpreted together with clinical signs, vaccination history, and other diagnostic tests. As an antibody test, a positive result indicates exposure to field virus or relevant vaccine antigen rather than directly confirming active infection.

PRINCIPLE

The PRV gE Ab Rapid Test is a lateral-flow immunochromatographic assay based on colloidal gold labeling. The test cassette contains a nitrocellulose membrane with a test (T) line pre-coated with PRV gE antigen and a control (C) line. When the processed serum or plasma is added to the sample well, it migrates by capillary action. If anti-gE antibodies are present, they bind the gold-conjugated PRV gE antigen and are captured at the T line, forming a visible colored band. The C line should always appear, confirming the assay ran correctly. Results are read visually by the naked eye within the stated time; no instrument is required.

SPECIMEN

Use fresh porcine serum or plasma collected by venipuncture. Allow whole blood to clot fully before centrifugation (for serum), or collect into an appropriate anticoagulant and centrifuge to separate plasma. Avoid hemolyzed, lipemic, or bacterially contaminated samples, which may affect the result. Mix gently and test promptly; if testing is delayed, store the sample at 2–8 °C for a short period or freeze for longer storage.
