INTENDED USE
The CRYPTO Ag Rapid Test is intended for the qualitative detection of Cryptosporidium antigen in feces collected from veterinary patients. It is designed for point-of-care veterinary use to aid in the diagnosis of cryptosporidiosis, a protozoan parasitic infection that commonly causes diarrhea in young or immunocompromised animals. Results must be interpreted together with clinical signs and other diagnostic findings, and a positive result may be confirmed by a reference method such as PCR or ELISA.
PRINCIPLE
The CRYPTO Ag Rapid Test is a lateral-flow immunochromatographic assay based on colloidal gold labeling. The test cassette contains a nitrocellulose membrane with a test (T) line pre-coated with capture antibody and a control (C) line. When the processed feces is added to the sample well, it migrates by capillary action. If the target Cryptosporidium antigen is present, it binds the gold-conjugated antibody and is captured at the T line, forming a visible colored band. The C line should always appear, confirming the assay ran correctly. Results are read visually by the naked eye within the stated time; no instrument is required.
SPECIMEN
The test uses a fresh fecal sample collected from the animal. Collect feces using the provided swab from the anus or freshly passed stool, and mix thoroughly with the supplied assay buffer before application. Use fresh samples and avoid prolonged storage; test as soon as possible after collection to preserve antigen integrity.
