INTENDED USE

The Canine Adenovirus Antigen (CAV Ag) Test kit is a fluorescence-based lateral-flow immunoassay intended for the qualitative detection of Canine Adenovirus (Types 1 and 2) antigens in canine ocular, nasal, or oral secretions. It is designed to assist veterinarians in the early diagnosis of infectious canine hepatitis (CAV-1) and respiratory tract infection (CAV-2), and in differentiating viral from bacterial respiratory disease. This product is for veterinary point-of-care use; results should be interpreted together with clinical signs and other diagnostic findings.

PRINCIPLE

The test employs a double-antibody sandwich fluorescence immunoassay on a nitrocellulose membrane. The conjugate pad contains fluorescent microsphere-labeled anti-CAV monoclonal antibodies. When a specimen is applied, CAV antigens bind to the fluorescent conjugates and migrate to the test (T) line, where immobilized anti-CAV capture antibodies retain the complex. A control (C) line is pre-coated with anti-species antibodies to confirm the assay has run correctly. A portable fluorescence analyzer reads the T/C fluorescence intensity ratio to determine a qualitative result. The assay requires fresh secretions for optimal performance.

SPECIMEN

Ocular, nasal, or oral secretion collected with a swab. The swab should be fully soaked in sample diluent before application; freshly collected samples are recommended for reliable results.
