INTENDED USE
The test is intended for the quantitative determination of progesterone concentration in canine whole blood, serum, or plasma. It is used to monitor the estrous cycle and pinpoint ovulation for optimal breeding or artificial insemination scheduling. Serial measurements are recommended for accurate timing of the fertile window.
PRINCIPLE
The test employs a fluorescence immunochromatographic competitive assay. Progesterone in the specimen competes with fluorescence microsphere-conjugated progesterone analog for binding to anti-progesterone antibodies immobilized at the T line; the conjugate is additionally captured at the C line as a procedural control. The T-line fluorescence decreases as progesterone concentration increases. A fluorescence analyzer calculates the progesterone concentration from the T/C ratio using a preset calibration curve.
SPECIMEN
Whole blood, serum, or plasma (WB/S/P). Collect by venipuncture using anticoagulated (whole blood/plasma) or serum tubes, and equilibrate to room temperature before testing.
