INTENDED USE
The test is intended for the qualitative detection of canine relaxin in whole blood, serum, or plasma. It is used to confirm pregnancy in the bitch from approximately 21–28 days after breeding or ovulation, and to differentiate true pregnancy from pseudopregnancy. It does not assess litter size or fetal viability.
PRINCIPLE
The test is a fluorescence immunochromatographic double-antibody sandwich assay. Relaxin in the specimen binds fluorescence microsphere-conjugated anti-relaxin antibodies and is captured at the T line by immobilized anti-relaxin antibodies. The C line provides a procedural control. A fluorescence analyzer reads the T/C ratio to report the presence of relaxin, which is produced only by the placenta during pregnancy.
SPECIMEN
Whole blood, serum, or plasma (WB/S/P). Collect blood aseptically; for serum/plasma allow clotting or use anticoagulated tubes, and bring samples to room temperature before testing.
