INTENDED USE

The Canine Ehrlichia Antibody (EHR Ab) Test kit is a fluorescence-based immunoassay intended for the qualitative detection of antibodies against Ehrlichia spp. (including E. canis, E. ewingii, and E. chaffeensis) in canine whole blood, serum, or plasma. It assists veterinarians in screening for Ehrlichia exposure and in supporting the clinical diagnosis of canine monocytic ehrlichiosis (CME), particularly in dogs with compatible signs such as fever or thrombocytopenia. A positive result indicates exposure but does not distinguish active infection from prior exposure; clinical correlation is required.

PRINCIPLE

The test uses an indirect fluorescence immunoassay format. Recombinant Ehrlichia-specific proteins (e.g., P30/P28 antigens) are immobilized on the nitrocellulose membrane. If present, anti-Ehrlichia antibodies (IgG/IgM) in the sample bind to these antigens; a fluorescent-labeled anti-canine IgG conjugate then binds the captured antibodies, forming a detectable complex at the test (T) line. A control (C) line confirms the assay. A portable fluorescence reader measures the T/C fluorescence intensity ratio, providing a qualitative (or semi-quantitative) result.

SPECIMEN

Canine whole blood, serum, or plasma (WB/S/P). Fresh samples are recommended; specimens should be handled and stored according to standard procedures before testing.
