INTENDED USE

This test is intended for the in vitro qualitative/quantitative detection of Giardia intestinalis-specific antigen in feline fecal specimens using a fluorescence immunoassay analyzer. It is used as an aid in the rapid diagnosis of active Giardia infection, in distinguishing parasitic diarrhea from dietary, viral, or bacterial causes, and in monitoring treatment efficacy and reinfection. Results should be interpreted together with clinical signs and other diagnostic methods.

PRINCIPLE

The test employs a sandwich fluorescence immunoassay. Anti-Giardia monoclonal antibodies conjugated to fluorescent nanoparticles bind Giardia antigens in the fecal extract on the conjugate pad. The antigen–antibody complex migrates by capillary action along the nitrocellulose membrane and is captured at the T line by immobilized anti-Giardia antibodies, forming a fluorescent sandwich. A portable fluorescence reader quantifies the T-line signal intensity and provides a qualitative/semi-quantitative result, while the C line confirms assay validity.

SPECIMEN

Feces (fecal swab). Collect a fresh fecal sample, elute in the provided diluent, mix, and apply the prepared extract to the test device; use fresh or properly preserved samples and read within the specified time window.
