INTENDED USE

This test is intended for the in vitro quantitative detection of Feline Herpesvirus antigen (FHV Ag) in feline nasopharyngeal or ocular secretion specimens, used with a fluorescence immunoassay analyzer. It serves as an aid in the diagnosis of acute FHV-1 infection in cats with upper respiratory signs, in differentiating viral from bacterial conjunctivitis, and in monitoring viral shedding in multi-cat environments. PRINCIPLE

The test employs a quantitative double-antibody sandwich fluorescence immunoassay. FHV antigens in the sample first bind to fluorescent nanoparticle-conjugated anti-FHV monoclonal antibodies on the conjugate pad. The complex migrates by capillary action along the nitrocellulose membrane and is captured at the T line by immobilized anti-FHV antibodies. A fluorescence analyzer measures the T-line signal intensity, processes it against a calibration curve, and reports the FHV Ag concentration; the C line confirms assay validity.

SPECIMEN

Ocular or nasal secretion swab. Collect the specimen from the eye, nose, or mouth with a swab, ensuring the swab is fully soaked, elute in the provided sample diluent, mix, and apply the eluate to the sample well; test promptly after collection.
