INTENDED USE

This test is intended for the in vitro qualitative/quantitative detection of specific antibodies against Feline Immunodeficiency Virus in feline whole blood, serum, or plasma, used with a fluorescence immunoassay analyzer. It is used as an aid in screening cats for FIV exposure and infection, in routine feline health protocols, and in confirming infection status prior to confirmatory testing. PRINCIPLE

The test employs an indirect fluorescence immunoassay for antibody detection. Recombinant FIV antigen is immobilized on the nitrocellulose membrane at the T line. If anti-FIV antibodies are present in the sample, they bind to the immobilized antigen; a fluorescent nanoparticle-conjugated anti-feline IgG detector antibody then binds the captured FIV antibodies, forming a fluorescent complex at the T line. The fluorescence analyzer reads the T-line signal intensity against the C line and reports the FIV antibody level; the C line confirms assay validity.

SPECIMEN

Whole blood, serum, or plasma (WB/S/P). Separate serum or plasma from whole blood as soon as possible after collection; use clear, non-hemolyzed specimens and avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
