INTENDED USE
The test is intended for the qualitative detection of canine rotavirus antigen in canine fecal specimens. It is used as an aid in the diagnosis of rotaviral gastroenteritis, especially in puppies and in kennel or shelter outbreaks. A positive result should be interpreted with clinical signs and after excluding other pathogens.
PRINCIPLE
The test uses a fluorescence immunochromatographic double-antibody sandwich format. Rotavirus antigen in the buffered fecal extract binds fluorescence microsphere-conjugated anti-rotavirus antibodies and is captured at the T line by immobilized anti-rotavirus antibodies. The C line serves as a procedural control. A fluorescence analyzer reads the T/C signal to determine the presence of rotavirus antigen.
SPECIMEN
Feces. Collect a fresh fecal sample with the swab, mix thoroughly in the assay buffer, allow particulates to settle, and apply the supernatant extract to the sample well.
