INTENDED USE
The Veterinary Glycated Hemoglobin (HbA1c) Test Kit is a fluorescence immunoassay intended for the quantitative measurement of glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) percentage in canine and feline whole blood. It is designed to aid in the diagnosis and management of diabetes mellitus and in differentiating chronic hyperglycemia from transient stress-induced hyperglycemia. Results should be interpreted alongside blood glucose and clinical assessment. For veterinary diagnostic use only.
PRINCIPLE
The test uses a double-antibody sandwich fluorescence immunoassay performed on whole blood. The specimen is lysed to release hemoglobin, including HbA1c. Anti-HbA1c capture antibodies immobilized on the nitrocellulose membrane at the test line (T line) bind the HbA1c, and a second fluorescent-nanoparticle-conjugated anti-HbA1c antibody binds the captured complex, forming a sandwich. A control line (C line) verifies the assay. The fluorescence analyzer measures the T-line/C-line intensity ratio, which is proportional to the HbA1c concentration and is reported as a percentage of total hemoglobin.
SPECIMEN
Whole blood (WB), preferably EDTA-anticoagulated. Collect by routine venipuncture into an EDTA tube, mix gently, and test fresh; avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
