INTENDED USE
The Veterinary D-Dimer Test Kit is a fluorescence immunoassay intended for the quantitative determination of D-dimer concentration in canine and feline whole blood or plasma specimens. It is designed to aid in the evaluation of fibrinolysis and the diagnosis or monitoring of thrombosis, disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), and thromboembolic events such as pulmonary thromboembolism. Results should be interpreted together with coagulation status and clinical findings. For veterinary use only.
PRINCIPLE
The test uses a double-antibody sandwich fluorescence immunoassay. Anti-D-dimer capture antibodies are immobilized on the nitrocellulose membrane at the test line (T line). During incubation, D-dimer in the specimen binds to the immobilized antibody, and a second fluorescent-nanoparticle-conjugated anti-D-dimer antibody binds to the captured complex, forming a sandwich. A control line (C line) confirms proper assay performance. The fluorescence analyzer measures the T-line/C-line intensity ratio, which correlates directly with the D-dimer concentration in the sample and is reported quantitatively.
SPECIMEN
Whole blood (15 μL) or plasma (10 μL). Citrated or lithium-heparin plasma is preferred; separate plasma promptly and avoid severely hemolyzed samples.
