INTENDED USE
For in vitro qualitative detection of Giardia antigen in canine fecal specimens. It assists veterinarians in the diagnosis of canine giardiasis, particularly in dogs with acute or chronic diarrhea. Intended for point-of-care use in veterinary clinics. Positive results should be interpreted together with clinical signs and patient history.
PRINCIPLE
This test employs a fluorescence immunochromatographic assay based on the double-antibody sandwich format. A nitrocellulose membrane contains a test (T) line coated with a capture antibody specific for Giardia antigen and a control (C) line. The conjugate pad is pre-loaded with fluorescent microsphere-labeled detection antibodies. When a processed fecal sample is applied, the antigen binds to the labeled antibody and migrates laterally; at the T line it is captured, forming a sandwich complex. A fluorescence analyzer excites the microspheres and reads the fluorescence intensity ratio of T to C for qualitative determination.
SPECIMEN
Fresh or properly preserved canine feces. Mix the fecal sample with the provided sample diluent to prepare a homogeneous suspension before applying to the cassette.
