INTENDED USE
For in vitro detection of Dirofilaria immitis (canine heartworm) antigen in canine whole blood, serum, or plasma. It aids in the screening and diagnosis of heartworm infection, including in the prepatent period, and in monitoring following adulticide treatment. For veterinary use only; confirm positive results with additional diagnostics.
PRINCIPLE
The test is a fluorescence immunochromatographic assay in a double-antibody sandwich format. Anti-heartworm capture monoclonal antibodies are immobilized on the nitrocellulose membrane at the T line, with a control line at C. A fluorescent nanoparticle-conjugated anti-heartworm antibody is dispensed on the conjugate pad. In the sample, circulating antigen binds the labeled antibody and migrates; it is captured at the T line to form a sandwich. The analyzer measures the T/C fluorescence intensity ratio to determine the presence and relative level of heartworm antigen.
