INTENDED USE
The test is intended for the qualitative detection of canine parainfluenza virus antigen in canine conjunctival secretion. It is used as an aid in the diagnosis of the canine infectious respiratory disease complex (CIRD). A positive result indicates CPIV infection; results should be interpreted with clinical signs and epidemiological context.
PRINCIPLE
The test is a fluorescence immunochromatographic assay in double-antibody sandwich format. After mixing the conjunctival swab extract with buffer, the sample migrates along the nitrocellulose membrane. CPIV antigen, if present, binds fluorescence microsphere-conjugated anti-CPIV antibodies and is captured at the T line by immobilized anti-CPIV antibodies. The C line provides a procedural control. A fluorescence analyzer reads the T/C intensity to determine the presence of antigen.
SPECIMEN
Conjunctival secretion collected with a sterile swab. Insert the swab into the assay buffer, rotate to extract, then apply the prepared extract to the sample well.
