INTENDED USE
This test is intended for the in vitro qualitative/quantitative detection of Feline Coronavirus antigen (FCoV Ag) in feline fecal specimens using a fluorescence immunoassay analyzer. It is used as an aid in screening for FCoV infection, including cases suspected of feline infectious peritonitis (FIP), and in monitoring viral shedding in catteries and shelters. Results should be interpreted together with clinical findings, as FCoV infection may be subclinical.
PRINCIPLE
The test employs a sandwich fluorescence immunoassay. Monoclonal anti-FCoV antibodies immobilized on the nitrocellulose membrane at the T line capture FCoV nucleocapsid antigens present in the sample. Fluorescent nanoparticle-conjugated detector anti-FCoV antibodies form a sandwich complex with the captured antigens as the mixture migrates by capillary action. A portable fluorescence reader quantifies the T-line signal, and the C line serves as the internal procedural control to confirm assay validity.
SPECIMEN
Feces (fecal swab). Collect a fresh fecal sample with the swab, ensuring the swab is fully soaked, elute in the provided diluent, mix, and apply the prepared sample to the test card; test as soon as possible after collection.
