INTENDED USE
For in vitro detection of antibodies to Borrelia burgdorferi (the agent of canine Lyme disease) in canine whole blood, serum, or plasma. It aids screening of tick-exposed dogs and diagnosis of Lyme disease in patients with compatible signs such as lameness, fever, or arthritis. A positive result reflects exposure; interpret with clinical findings and confirmatory testing. For veterinary use only.
PRINCIPLE
The test employs a fluorescence immunochromatographic assay in an indirect format. Borrelia burgdorferi antigen (e.g., outer surface proteins) is immobilized at the T line on the nitrocellulose membrane, with a control line at C. The conjugate pad contains fluorescent microsphere-labeled anti-canine IgG/IgM secondary antibody. If present, anti-Borrelia antibodies in the sample bind the immobilized antigen at the T line and are subsequently detected by the labeled secondary antibody. The analyzer reads the T/C fluorescence intensity ratio to determine the presence and relative level of Lyme antibodies.
