INTENDED USE
The SDMA FIA test is intended for the quantitative determination of Symmetric Dimethylarginine (SDMA) concentration in feline serum or plasma. It serves as an aid in the early diagnosis of kidney disease and monitoring of renal function in cats. Results should be interpreted together with clinical signs, creatinine, and other diagnostic findings.
PRINCIPLE
The SDMA FIA uses a competitive fluorescence immunoassay on a nitrocellulose membrane. Fluorescently labeled anti-SDMA antibodies compete with SDMA in the sample for binding to SDMA antigen immobilized at the T line. Higher sample SDMA concentration yields fewer labeled antibodies captured at the T line, producing a negative correlation between signal and concentration. The C line verifies assay performance. The FIA analyzer reads the T/C fluorescence intensity ratio and calculates the quantitative SDMA concentration via a calibration curve.
