INTENDED USE
Qualitative detection of antibodies against African Swine Fever Virus (ASFV) in whole blood, serum, or plasma from pigs, for veterinary point-of-care use. It aids in the surveillance and diagnosis of African swine fever, an acute, highly contagious hemorrhagic disease. A positive result indicates an immune response to current or past infection rather than necessarily active disease, and must be interpreted with clinical signs and confirmed by reference methods.
PRINCIPLE
The ASFV Ab Rapid Test is a lateral-flow immunochromatographic assay based on colloidal gold labeling. The test cassette contains a nitrocellulose membrane with a test (T) line pre-coated with capture antigen and a control (C) line. When the processed whole blood/serum/plasma is added to the sample well, it migrates by capillary action. If ASFV-specific antibodies are present, they bind the gold-conjugated antigen and are captured at the T line, forming a visible colored band. The C line should always appear, confirming the assay ran correctly. Results are read visually by the naked eye within the stated time; no instrument is required.
SPECIMEN
Use fresh whole blood, serum, or plasma from pigs. Collect by venipuncture; for serum allow clotting and separate, or use anticoagulated blood/plasma and separate promptly. Mix well before application. Avoid hemolysis; test fresh or store refrigerated (2–8 °C) if delayed.
