INTENDED USE
For the qualitative detection of antibodies against Brucella canis in serum or plasma from dogs, intended for veterinary point-of-care use. It aids in screening for canine brucellosis, a zoonotic reproductive disease. A positive result indicates exposure or immune status rather than active infection; results must be interpreted with clinical signs and confirmatory testing.
PRINCIPLE
The C.Bru Ab Rapid Test is a lateral-flow immunochromatographic assay based on colloidal gold labeling. The test cassette contains a nitrocellulose membrane with a test (T) line pre-coated with capture antigen and a control (C) line. When the processed serum or plasma is added to the sample well, it migrates by capillary action. If anti-Brucella canis antibody is present, it binds the gold-conjugated antigen and is captured at the T line, forming a visible colored band. The C line should always appear, confirming the assay ran correctly. Results are read visually by the naked eye within the stated time; no instrument is required.
SPECIMEN
Use serum or plasma collected by venipuncture. Centrifuge whole blood promptly to obtain clear plasma, or harvest serum after clotting. Avoid hemolysis and use fresh samples; mix well before applying to the test.
