INTENDED USE
Qualitative detection of canine parvovirus antigen in fecal samples collected from dogs, for veterinary point-of-care use. It aids in the diagnosis of canine parvovirus infection, a highly contagious and potentially fatal gastroenteritis especially in puppies. Results must be interpreted together with clinical signs and other diagnostics; antigen shedding varies with disease stage.
PRINCIPLE
The CPV Ag Rapid Test is a lateral-flow immunochromatographic assay based on colloidal gold labeling. The test cassette contains a nitrocellulose membrane with a test (T) line pre-coated with capture antibody and a control (C) line. When the processed feces is added to the sample well, it migrates by capillary action. If the target canine parvovirus antigen is present, it binds the gold-conjugated antibody and is captured at the T line, forming a visible colored band. The C line should always appear, confirming the assay ran correctly. Results are read visually by the naked eye within the stated time; no instrument is required.
SPECIMEN
The test uses fresh canine feces or a rectal swab. Collect a small amount of fresh stool or swab the rectum and elute into the provided assay buffer. Use fresh samples and test promptly; mix the eluate well and avoid excessive fecal material, which can disrupt flow and cause invalid results.
