Canine rotavirus antigen (CRV Ag) Rapid Test Kit

Catalog No.:RCRVAGF

Description

This test qualitatively detects canine rotavirus antigen in fresh fecal samples collected from dogs. Rotavirus is a common cause of acute, often self-limiting diarrhea in puppies. The assay provides a clear visual result at the point of care within minutes, aiding rapid etiologic screening.

INTENDED USE

Qualitative detection of canine rotavirus antigen in fecal samples collected from dogs, for veterinary point-of-care use. It aids in the etiologic diagnosis of acute gastroenteritis, particularly in puppies with watery diarrhea. Results must be interpreted together with clinical signs and other diagnostics, and should be read in the context of possible co-infections.

PRINCIPLE

The CRV Ag Rapid Test is a lateral-flow immunochromatographic assay based on colloidal gold labeling. The test cassette contains a nitrocellulose membrane with a test (T) line pre-coated with capture antibody and a control (C) line. When the processed fecal sample is added to the sample well, it migrates by capillary action. If the target canine rotavirus antigen is present, it binds the gold-conjugated antibody and is captured at the T line, forming a visible colored band. The C line should always appear, confirming the assay ran correctly. Results are read visually by the naked eye within the stated time; no instrument is required.

SPECIMEN

Collect a fresh fecal sample directly from the animal. Avoid contamination with urine, litter, or soil, and test the sample as fresh as possible. If immediate testing is not possible, keep the sample cool and protect it from excessive heat.
