Feline coronavirus antibody (FCOV Ab) Rapid Test Kit
Catalog No.:
Description
This test qualitatively detects antibodies against feline coronavirus (FCoV) in serum or plasma from cats. Most cats in multi-cat homes have been exposed, so a positive result indicates prior exposure rather than active disease. The test gives an instrument-free visual result at the point of care within minutes.

INTENDED USE
Qualitative detection of antibodies against feline coronavirus (FCoV) in serum or plasma collected from cats, for veterinary point-of-care use. Because most cats have been exposed to FCoV, a positive result indicates prior exposure rather than a diagnosis of feline infectious peritonitis. Results must be interpreted together with clinical signs and other diagnostics, as antibody tests cannot distinguish enteric from virulent strains.
PRINCIPLE
The FCOV Ab Rapid Test is a lateral-flow immunochromatographic assay based on colloidal gold labeling. The test cassette contains a nitrocellulose membrane with a test (T) line pre-coated with feline coronavirus antigen and a control (C) line. When the processed serum or plasma sample is added to the sample well, it migrates by capillary action. If antibodies against feline coronavirus are present, they bind the gold-conjugated anti-antibody and are captured at the T line, forming a visible colored band. The C line should always appear, confirming the assay ran correctly. Results are read visually by the naked eye within the stated time; no instrument is required.
SPECIMEN
Use serum or plasma collected from the cat. Allow whole blood to clot and separate serum promptly; for plasma, use an appropriate anticoagulant. Avoid hemolysis and store samples cool; test fresh or refrigerate if analysis is delayed.
