INTENDED USE
Qualitative detection of Feline leukemia virus (FeLV) p27 antigen in serum or plasma from cats, for veterinary point-of-care use. It aids in the diagnosis and screening of FeLV infection. Results must be interpreted together with clinical signs and confirmatory testing such as PCR or virus isolation.
PRINCIPLE
The FeLV Ag Rapid Test is a lateral-flow immunochromatographic assay based on colloidal gold labeling. The test cassette contains a nitrocellulose membrane with a test (T) line pre-coated with capture antibody and a control (C) line. When the processed serum or plasma is added to the sample well, it migrates by capillary action. If the target Feline leukemia virus p27 antigen is present, it binds the gold-conjugated antibody and is captured at the T line, forming a visible colored band. The C line should always appear, confirming the assay ran correctly. Results are read visually by the naked eye within the stated time; no instrument is required.
SPECIMEN
The test uses serum or plasma obtained from feline whole blood by standard collection and centrifugation. Use fresh, non-hemolyzed samples; avoid bacterial contamination and keep samples appropriately refrigerated if not tested promptly. Mix the sample well before application.
