INTENDED USE
Qualitative detection of feline pancreatic lipase (fPL) in whole blood, serum, or plasma collected from cats, for veterinary point-of-care use. It aids in the diagnosis of feline pancreatitis when used alongside clinical signs, biochemistry, and imaging. A positive result suggests pancreatic inflammation but must be interpreted together with the patient’s clinical picture and other diagnostics.
PRINCIPLE
The FPL Ag Rapid Test is a lateral-flow immunochromatographic assay based on colloidal gold labeling. The test cassette contains a nitrocellulose membrane with a test (T) line pre-coated with anti-fPL capture antibody and a control (C) line. When the processed whole blood, serum, or plasma is added to the sample well, it migrates by capillary action. If feline pancreatic lipase is present, it binds the gold-conjugated anti-fPL antibody and is captured at the T line, forming a visible colored band. The C line should always appear, confirming the assay ran correctly. Results are read visually by the naked eye within the stated time; no instrument is required.
SPECIMEN
Use whole blood, serum, or plasma collected from cats by venipuncture. For serum, allow clotting and centrifuge; for plasma, use anticoagulated blood. Use fresh samples and avoid hemolysis, lipemia, and repeated freeze–thaw cycles. Bring refrigerated samples to room temperature and mix gently before testing.
