Canine leptospirosis virus antibody (Lepto Ab) Rapid Test Kit
Catalog No.:
Description
The Lepto Ab Rapid Test qualitatively detects antibodies against Leptospira spp. in serum or plasma collected from dogs. It provides a visual result at the point of care within minutes, supporting rapid screening for leptospirosis exposure in canine patients with compatible signs.

INTENDED USE
Qualitative detection of antibodies to Leptospira spp. in serum or plasma collected from dogs, for veterinary point-of-care use. It aids in the screening of canine leptospirosis when used with clinical and clinicopathologic findings. A positive result indicates exposure rather than necessarily active disease, and vaccination may induce antibodies; results must be interpreted together with clinical signs, PCR, and paired-titer testing where indicated.
PRINCIPLE
The Lepto Ab Rapid Test is a lateral-flow immunochromatographic assay based on colloidal gold labeling. The test cassette contains a nitrocellulose membrane with a test (T) line pre-coated with capture antigen and a control (C) line. When the processed serum or plasma is added to the sample well, it migrates by capillary action. If anti-Leptospira antibodies are present, they bind the gold-conjugated antigen and are captured at the T line, forming a visible colored band. The C line should always appear, confirming the assay ran correctly. Results are read visually by the naked eye within the stated time; no instrument is required.
SPECIMEN
Use serum or plasma collected from dogs by venipuncture. For serum, allow clotting and centrifuge; for plasma, use anticoagulated blood. Use fresh samples; avoid hemolysis. If not tested immediately, store serum/plasma at 2–8 °C for a short period or freeze; mix well and bring to room temperature before testing.
