Peste des petits ruminants virus antibody (PPR Ab) Rapid Test Kit
Catalog No.:
Description
This test qualitatively detects antibodies to peste des petits ruminants virus (PPRV) in serum or plasma from small ruminants. It helps assess exposure to or vaccination against PPR, a severe viral disease of goats and sheep. A visible result is read by the naked eye within minutes at the point of care.

INTENDED USE
Qualitative detection of antibodies to peste des petits ruminants virus (PPRV) in serum or plasma collected from small ruminants (goats and sheep), for veterinary point-of-care use. It aids in assessing prior exposure to or vaccination against PPR, a severe, contagious viral disease of small ruminants. Detection of antibody indicates immune status rather than active infection, and results must be interpreted together with clinical signs and other diagnostics; PPR is a WOAH-reportable disease.
PRINCIPLE
The PPR Ab Rapid Test is a lateral-flow immunochromatographic assay based on colloidal gold labeling. The test cassette contains a nitrocellulose membrane with a test (T) line pre-coated with PPRV antigen and a control (C) line. When the processed serum or plasma is added to the sample well, it migrates by capillary action. If anti-PPRV antibodies are present, they bind the gold-conjugated anti-species IgG and are captured at the T line, forming a visible colored band. The C line should always appear, confirming the assay ran correctly. Results are read visually by the naked eye within the stated time; no instrument is required.
SPECIMEN
The test uses serum or plasma collected from goats or sheep. Collect blood by venipuncture into an appropriate tube and separate serum or plasma, avoiding hemolysis. Use fresh samples; keep them cool if testing is not performed immediately.
