Porcine rotavirus antigen (PRV Ag) Rapid Test Kit

Catalog No.:RPRVAGF

Description

This test qualitatively detects porcine rotavirus antigen in fresh fecal samples from pigs. It helps screen for rotaviral enteritis, a common cause of diarrhea in nursing piglets. A visible result is read by the naked eye within minutes at the point of care.

INTENDED USE

Qualitative detection of porcine rotavirus antigen in fecal samples collected from pigs, for veterinary point-of-care use. It aids in the rapid screening of rotaviral enteritis, a common malabsorptive diarrheal disease of nursing and weaned piglets. Results must be interpreted together with clinical signs, histopathology, and other diagnostics such as PCR.

PRINCIPLE

The PRV Ag Rapid Test is a lateral-flow immunochromatographic assay based on colloidal gold labeling. The test cassette contains a nitrocellulose membrane with a test (T) line pre-coated with anti-rotavirus capture antibody and a control (C) line. When the processed fecal sample is added to the sample well, it migrates by capillary action. If porcine rotavirus antigen is present, it binds the gold-conjugated antibody and is captured at the T line, forming a visible colored band. The C line should always appear, confirming the assay ran correctly. Results are read visually by the naked eye within the stated time; no instrument is required.

SPECIMEN

The test uses fresh fecal samples collected from pigs. Collect freshly passed or rectal feces into a clean, dry container, avoiding soil or bedding contamination. Test promptly; if delayed, keep the sample cool and protect it from excessive heat.
