INTENDED USE
The H.P Ag Rapid Test is intended for the qualitative detection of Helicobacter pylori antigen in feces collected from veterinary patients. It is designed for point-of-care veterinary use to aid in the investigation of gastric Helicobacter colonization, which may be associated with gastritis, vomiting, and chronic digestive signs in dogs and cats. Results should be interpreted together with clinical signs and other diagnostics, and should not be used as the sole basis for a diagnosis.
PRINCIPLE
The H.P Ag Rapid Test is a lateral-flow immunochromatographic assay based on colloidal gold labeling. The test cassette contains a nitrocellulose membrane with a test (T) line pre-coated with capture antibody and a control (C) line. When the processed feces is added to the sample well, it migrates by capillary action. If the target Helicobacter pylori antigen is present, it binds the gold-conjugated antibody and is captured at the T line, forming a visible colored band. The C line should always appear, confirming the assay ran correctly. Results are read visually by the naked eye within the stated time; no instrument is required.
SPECIMEN
The test uses a fresh fecal sample from the animal (most commonly dog or cat). Collect feces with the provided swab from the anus or freshly passed stool and mix well with the supplied assay buffer before application. Use fresh samples; avoid contamination and test promptly after collection for reliable antigen detection.
